The Division of Student Affairs at Manhattanville College is seeking a Community Coordinator to serve as part of a newly developed student engagement unit of campus and residence life.
This highly collaborative position works directly with students in creating intentional community development.
This live-on position reports to the Associate Director of Residence Life.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Directly supervise, develop, and evaluate up to 10 undergraduate Resident Advisors Facilitate an environment of personal growth, leadership development, and academic success through formal training sessions, one on one meetings, scheduled staff meetings, and staff development opportunities Plan and facilitate training sessions, staff development activities, on-going professional development, and assessment of experiences for Resident Assistants Create opportunities for growth by being a role model, confronting student behavior, enforcing community standards, and providing leadership opportunities within the community Serve as a resource and referral agent for students' academic, identity, and social needs Support traditionally underrepresented students by being aware of the needs of various student populations and creating an inclusive community that celebrates difference Create, administer, and adjudicate student conduct cases.
Complete all administrative records and communication maintaining conduct databases for prescribed timelines Serve in on-call rotation for a population of 800-1000 residential students with other live-in professionals responding to a variety of needs including but not limited to crisis and emergency response, facility maintenance, direction, and support for student staff and students, and conflict resolution for students Assist with all opening and closings of the residence halls Monitor the physical condition of the community buildings, work collaboratively with maintenance and custodial staff to report and follow-up on work order requests, damages, and facility emergencies Develop positive working relationships with facilities workers, custodial staff, and campus safety Advise class councils Serve on departmental and college committees as requestedo Other duties as assigned Qualifications Master's Degree preferred.
Strong candidates will demonstrate experience in residence life; student and community development; supervision and staff training; advising student groups; creation and implementation of management systems; crisis response; and previous work with diverse populations.
Candidates will also demonstrate a commitment to customer service and understand the importance of being a team player; and effective communication skills.
